What puts most people off having cosmetic surgery is most often the recovery time.  The majority of potential patients often enthralled with the of having a lift, reshape or any other numerous straightforward cosmetic enhancements, until the thought occurs that after the surgery is complete, it would be difficult to go about long life for a first few days or weeks with prominent scars, bandages etc.  In many cases it is true that there will be bandaging and scars, but this will only be for the first few days.  The surgical marks however can last for weeks.

Some easy tips on how to survive facial cosmetic surgery is all that is required.  Depending on the type of surgery that has been done, and its location, it is difficult to put a hard and fast rule on where and when concealing makeup can be applied.  Although, it is not suggested that you can use your normal makeup during this period, but there is certain types of makeup that do not irritate the skin, or conflict with any type of work that has been done.  Most importantly it is unwise to interfere with the body’s repair process.  The last thing that anybody would want to do is to make scars, and remnants more noticeable simply because they do not wish, or do not want the healing process to be noticeable.

Concealing makeup has been used for years, most often for those who have marks or blemishes, from childbirth or accidents that have left marks for their entire lives.  This type of makeup often is for completely covering up very prominent marks.  It is also designed to be used for many hours at a time, and therefore has been formulated to be as tolerant for the skin as possible.  Because of this concealing makeup is much more skin friendly than most normal makeup.  The factors that are used most often in the industry for normal foundation and the suchlike, are removed from this product, and in many cases contain moisturizers which actually do a lot of good for the skin.  This type of makeup is also designed to be quite heavy.  And as most people know, it is not easy to use normal makeup quite heavy simply because it is not designed to be used in such a manner.  A good camouflage makeup is not designed with opacity, it is mostly for a complete cover-up that does not allow the underneath skin to show through.

Camouflage makeup does not have to be used throughout the entire area in question, and can be used just over localized scarring, and bruising.  It blends in quite well with normal makeup, and in this case it allows the user to use the minimum of heavy makeup, making the overall use virtually undetectable, depending on the amount of work that has been done, simply because the majority of surgery for facial areas is used in a way that always leaves minimum scarring and always in a place that is not immediately visible once healed.

For rhinoplasty, depending on the amount of work that was done, there may only be bruising unless there is a cast.  Bruising can be immediately covered, however a cast cannot be covered all disguised, but when it is removed it can be treated as normal.  If you have had other surgical work done you must of course be careful not to cover any stitches such as for other sinus works.  If you need to come up with a appropriate makeup for a chemical peel, you need to be far more careful as the new skin is more susceptible to damage, and it’s long-term effects will be diminished if you were to damage it too early.  This also true that because the area is so large a lot of coverage will be required for camouflaging the color of the skin.  This is also true for dermabrasion, although there’s normally much less redness which doesn’t last as long and therefore camouflage makeup can be applied much sooner.  As a rule of thumb is the skin looks clean and normal but is bright, but not sore in any way a test can be done on a small area to see if there is any irritation.

It is a good idea to consult with your surgeon before you agree to have works, preferably at the time when you’re consulting about what type of surgery require about the use of camouflage cosmetics and where and when, you can and cannot put them.  With all your different options it would be wise to write this down so that you can see which type of work you have done, and how long it will take before you can feel comfortable to resume your normal life wearing suitable cosmetic camouflage.  You may find that you will opt for certain types of surgery over some others simply because you will able to resume your normal life quite quickly after surgery and will be able to keep your secret.

It is not advisable to use any type of camouflage or concealing makeup before consulting with the cosmetic surgeon or one of their nurses.  The after care is always very good, and they will have all the information that you need, and possibly give you a quick examination to indicate when you will be ready to use such items, that will not hinder or damage the repair process.  Consultation with your GP or any other type of doctor or nurse is not advisable, as the information may not be correct or may err on the side of caution when it is not necessary.
