Tummy tucks complete
Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is a cosmetic surgery procedure to reshape and firm the abdomen. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. Abdominal plastic surgery offers a solution by flattening the slack skin and tightening the muscles of the relaxed tummy wall, which frequently occurs after pregnancy or a distinct weight loss. If needed, excess subcutaneous fatty tissue can be removed as well. Abdominoplasty can also help women who?ve had children and whose stomachs have become stretched (and the muscles loosened) during pregnancy. Sometimes a tummy tuck can reduce or get rid of stretch marks, but it?s unlikely that all lines on the stomach will be eradicated.
Abdominoplasty is one of those cosmetic procedures that can have a dramatic effect on your whole outlook. Many of our patients who choose tummy tuck in Newport Beach tell us afterwards that having the procedure was one of the best decisions they ever made. Abdominoplasty typically takes two to three hours, depending on the extent of work required. Most commonly, the surgeon will make a long incision from hipbone to hipbone, ,just above the pubic area. Abdominoplasty, or Tummy Tuck, is an invasive surgical procedure and requires some recovery time. Expect to take a week or more before returning to work.
Abdominoplasty can provide patients with a smaller waist and a flatter abdomen. It is a popular procedure performed to surgically improve one’s body contour.
Patients are usually released the same day of surgery to recover in the comfort of their own home. Patients who do not have skin excess but primarily fat excess can be effectively treated by liposuction alone. Grigoryants uses liposuction or liposculture to improve the contour of various body parts. Patients typically request a tummy tuck when diet and exercise programs fail, as is often the case.
Patients can expect more freedom of movement during the second week. Most are able to drive and move about fairly normally in 8-10 days, drive soon thereafter, and should anticipate ten to fourteen days off work. Patients will often note some back discomfort due to the 45 degree positioning for 4-5 days after surgery however muscle relaxants are sometimes given to alleviate muscle spasms and for relaxation. Patients with fat deposits limited to the area below the navel may be candidates for a less extensive technique known as a partial abdominoplasty or mini tummy tuck.
Patients with excess fatty tissue, inelastic skin, and abdominal wall weakness are ideal candidates for an abdominoplasty. Women who have had children can develop abdominal wall laxity known as a diastasis. Patients with scarring from previous abdominal surgery may get scars that are unusually prominent. Patients that have drains placed during surgery must track the amount of fluid put out by the drain. When the amount of fluid put out by the drain falls below 30cc over a 24-hour period for 2 consecutive days, then the drains will be removed.
Patients are given the appropriate intravenous antibiotics coverage throughout the surgery. During the surgery, the skin surface of the patient is cleaned properly.
